Fine Art Print “La Penseuse”

“La Penseuse” is a contemporary reinterpretation of “The Thinker” by Auguste Rodin. In Rodin’s sculpture the figure depicted is a man, traditionally seen as a symbol of power and intellectualism. By reinterpreting this iconic image with a headless female figure sitting on a toilet, the work points to the ways in which society has traditionally limited women’s representation in art and intellectualism.

The choice of a toilet as a subject matter is a nod to Duchamp’s work, which challenges the traditional notions of what art should be and how it should be presented. It is a rejection of societal norms and conventions, with the headless figure representing the idea that true art should not be limited by societal expectations.
