“Libre Arbitre” (Free Will) can be seen as a commentary on the nature of free will and its relationship to the self and society. The headless figure serving as a metaphor for the idea that the self and individual consciousness, is not fully in control of its own actions and decisions. The placement of the hand symbolises that the self is not fully separate from the external forces that shape it, such as societal and cultural influences.
